I'm not sold on the arches to the left, they feel a little too flat to me as the light isn't catching them. The frustum of the supporting column towards the middle appears to be at an odd angle.

The rest though is very nice, a lot more depth to this one and the light is nicely framed. A definite step forward from the first.

Figured I'd keep some of the palette from the previous work since I was depicting the same area. I do like how this one seems significantly brighter in both color and contrast than the other.

With the last one, I got caught up with the idea of painting as fast as possible so I didn't get to fully plan out the ruins as I wanted. The overall composition here is more interesting to look at as Yun mentioned.

@Widow: Thanks for the critique, I'll keep a sharper eye out on the lighting the next go around.

I do prefer your original for this concept: that is, I imagine that the combatants will be superimposed over the landscape, like in our loading screen.
Your character paintings themselves have stunning backdrops.

*[wishes that loading screen b/g can be selectable too~! actually I'm sure this has been mentioned a lot in Sardelac, and some textmod pros have in fact done so ~]

I agree with you how the characters would fit in a lot better in the first picture since the composition isn't nearly as complicated as the latter. But with these landscapes, I really want to treat them more as traditional landscapes rather than a typical arena design; clean center with surrounding architecture. I rarely (and I stress rarely) ever do landscapes, so this is a great opportunity for me to finally get some solid practice in.

And about the loading screen, I didn't know you could change that. If I would ever decide to change from the original art, it would definitely be with something more finished. I consider these more rough sketches than anything else.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I also thought up an idea for your assassin.

Most of the time, just the standard brushes but with texture presets on them. A few custom made ones here and there for the leaves. That's about it really.

the bridge is straight-on side-view, right? I don't get the sense that the bridge is very large. And so my mind tells me, if the bridge isn't that large, I should be able to see the top of it, instead of directly viewing it as a side-view. Idk, I'm probably wrong so =)

You are correct sir, the view should actually allow you to see a bit of the top. Looks like I was focusing so much on the back that I completely overlooked that, lol.

EDIT: Fixed because this is Chinatown, and you know the law. Thanks for pointing that out, Yun. I haven't done full landscapes in ages, so I'm still a bit rusty

No worries, Yun. I'm still a student and prone to silly mistakes that I might overlook.

And the law of Chinatown is about landscapes. You know this.

Thanks, Bebe. The Grothmar pic did turn out nicer since it was a concentrated landscape study instead of a speed paint. I still need more practice with landscapes though; the last real one I did was about a year ago on campus. I've been a bad student and haven't really been practicing, lol.

And I only played with you once I think doing that UW run to get to Dhuum. I don't quite remember what your ele looks like?

You mean the epic attempt where bebe teleported us in before we were close to ready and we got owned really fast?

That was awesome

Haha, I think that was a different group :P

All I remember is that we got flambasted by a horde of dryders/skeletons and everyone died a horrible clumsy death.
